Welcome to Celebrants by Elysium. By using this website or booking our services, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. About Us

Celebrants by Elysium provides professional, bespoke celebrant services throughout Spain for English-speaking residents, expatriates and visitors.

We specialise in creating and delivering personalised ceremonies including:

  • Funeral and Farewell Ceremonies
  • Memorial Services
  • Celebration of Life Ceremonies
  • Ashes Scattering & Remembrance Ceremonies
  • Weddings*
  • Vow Renewals
  • Commitment Ceremonies
  • Naming Ceremonies
  • Other bespoke life celebrations

(*Subject to Spanish legal requirements. Celebrants conduct symbolic ceremonies only unless otherwise stated.)

2. Our Services

Each ceremony is individually written following consultation with the client.

Our services may include:

  • Initial consultation
  • Planning meetings (telephone, video or in person)
  • Bespoke ceremony script
  • Liaison with venues and funeral providers where appropriate
  • Professional delivery of the ceremony
  • Keepsake copy of the ceremony (where applicable)

Additional services may be available and quoted separately.

3. Booking Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once:

  • We have accepted your enquiry.
  • Any requested deposit has been received.
  • Written confirmation has been issued.

Bookings remain subject to celebrant availability.

4. Fees & Payment

Fees will be confirmed before any booking is accepted.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Deposits are non-refundable.
  • Full payment is required before the ceremony takes place.
  • Additional travel or accommodation expenses may apply outside our normal service areas.

5. Cancellations

If you need to cancel your ceremony:

  • More than 30 days before the ceremony – any payments made (excluding deposits) may be refunded.
  • Less than 30 days before the ceremony – refunds will be considered based upon work already completed.
  • Once the ceremony has been written, preparation fees may still be payable.

Where a funeral service is cancelled or rearranged due to circumstances beyond your control, we will always try to accommodate revised arrangements.

6. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to provide:

  • Accurate information
  • Correct spellings of names
  • Relevant dates
  • Appropriate photographs or readings (if requested)
  • Necessary permissions to use copyrighted material

The client remains responsible for checking all draft scripts before approval.

7. Changes

Reasonable amendments are included before the final script is approved.

Significant changes requested after approval may incur additional charges.

8. Independent Celebrant Services

Celebrants by Elysium provides celebrant services only.

Unless specifically stated:

  • We are not funeral directors.
  • We do not provide legal marriage registration.
  • We do not provide legal advice.
  • We do not replace religious ministers.

9. Weddings

Our celebrants conduct beautiful personalised ceremonies.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, ceremonies are symbolic and do not constitute a legally recognised marriage under Spanish law.

Clients are responsible for completing all legal marriage formalities separately.

10. Limitation of Liability

Whilst every effort is made to deliver each ceremony as agreed, Celebrants by Elysium shall not be liable for delays or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control including:

  • Extreme weather
  • Illness
  • Government restrictions
  • Venue closures
  • Transport disruption

Where possible, an alternative celebrant will be arranged.

11. Intellectual Property

All ceremony scripts remain the intellectual property of Celebrants by Elysium.

Scripts are prepared solely for the named client and may not be copied, reproduced, published or commercially used without written permission.

12. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK GDPR (where applicable) and Spanish data protection legislation.

Information is used solely for arranging and delivering your ceremony unless otherwise agreed.

13. Complaints

Should you have any concerns, please contact us as soon as possible so we can work to resolve the matter promptly and fairly.

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Spain.

Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Spanish courts.
